So, it’s been a rather shaky first weekend for Star Trek: Online. Several periods of ‘unexpected downtime’ (ie, server crashes), and now it looks like Cryptic have either switched on their queuing system for the first time or significantly reduced the maximum number of players allowed on the server. Or possibly both.
It’s probably not a huge surprise to anyone who played in the open beta, as it was all too clear that the game was a long way from being ready for launch, but disappointing nonetheless.
On the bright side, it does give me some time to work on the first article for The Engines Cannae Take It!, a basic overview of the STO character and progression system. If all goes well, it should be up later today or sometime tomorrow.
